How I structure a platform Mobile and web apps call a shared API layer with a gateway, REST, GraphQL and WebSockets. The API layer calls Node.js services built as microservices with events. A typical platform I design. Every app builds against one set of API contracts. Delivery, security and monitoring cover every layer, not just the backend.

What I do

Most of my work starts before any code is written. I work out what the business needs, choose the architecture, and document it clearly enough for several teams to build against. Then I stay involved through delivery. I can join as your architect, lead the technical side of a new bid, or review a system you already run.

  • Solution architecture and presales

    Requirements turned into HLDs, LLDs, non-functional requirements, estimates and technology roadmaps. I run presales solutioning and architecture reviews with enterprise clients and C-level stakeholders.

  • Backend and API platforms

    Node.js services, REST and GraphQL APIs, WebSockets, event-driven integration, microservices and API gateways, on MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB. I define the data contracts and auth flows every client builds against.

  • Cloud and delivery

    Deployment architecture on AWS and Azure. CI/CD and release automation with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket and Fastlane. One programme went from 2-day releases to 2-hour releases.

  • Web and mobile applications

    E-commerce platforms, ERP systems, customer and partner portals, admin dashboards, and mobile apps in Flutter, native Android and iOS, and React Native. Each app is built around the platform's API contracts, so frontend and backend teams can ship independently.

  • Security, scale and reliability

    Caching, high availability and observability for production services. Mobile security audits against OWASP MASVS, with SSL pinning and app signing.

  • AI engineering

    I set up AI coding workflows for teams in Cursor and Claude Code. These use rule and skill files that encode our architecture standards, commands for scaffolding, code review, tests and security audits, and MCP links to Figma and Azure DevOps. I also build practical AI features with LLM APIs, like a tool that turns spreadsheet data into written reports.

  • Fintech platform

    Native mobile, APIs, event-driven integration

    Architected secure payments, account management and real-time transaction tracking, covering the native mobile clients and the backend and API integration behind them. Event-driven API integrations made transactions more reliable and responsive.

  • Backend and API platform

    Node.js, REST, GraphQL, AWS

    Designed the service and API architecture that powers the mobile apps: data contracts, authentication flows, and integration patterns between the mobile and backend teams. Deployed on AWS.

  • Media streaming platform

    HLS streaming, smart TV casting

    Architected a streaming platform with HLS playback and casting to smart TVs for more than 30,000 monthly active users.

    Designed an IoT solution on AWS for scalable, reliable communication between devices, mobile apps and backend services. Added observability across the whole path.

Leading teams

Architecture only works if people can build it. Much of my week goes into the teams: hiring them, growing them, setting the standards they work to, and keeping business stakeholders and engineers aligned.

  • Hiring

    I interview candidates and make hiring decisions for engineering roles on my teams, across backend, web, mobile and DevOps.

  • Mentoring and growth

    I mentor more than 50 engineers and run regular knowledge sessions, so good architecture practice spreads beyond the projects I'm on.

  • Leading delivery teams

    I'm the technical lead for cross-functional teams covering architecture, backend, QA and DevOps. I make the technical calls, review the work and clear blockers so the team keeps shipping.

  • Standards and governance

    I set engineering standards for architecture, code review, CI/CD and mobile security, and several teams now use them as their default.

  • Introducing new practices

    I bring new ways of working into teams and see them through to daily use. Recent examples are release automation and AI-assisted development, rolled out with shared tooling, prompt patterns and review rules.

  • Stakeholders and clients

    I work with C-level stakeholders, product owners and clients to agree technology roadmaps, and I explain technical trade-offs in business terms.

About

I started out building web and enterprise applications in ASP.NET and J2EE, then spent time in Android development. I joined Brainvire Infotech in 2015 and have worked as an architect there for the past eight years. Today I'm a Senior Technical Architect, designing complete platforms for clients: services and APIs, integrations, cloud deployment, release pipelines and the apps on top.

I work directly with C-level stakeholders, product owners and clients around the world to set technology roadmaps. I also run architecture reviews and mentor more than 50 engineers across backend, web, mobile and DevOps.

My focus is on decisions that keep teams fast after launch: clear contracts between layers, automated releases, security built in from the start, and systems you can observe in production.
